There’s an App for That: 6 Mobile Tools All Content Marketers Need

posted by on June 10, 2015 in Converge Blog

Content is everywhere – on our website and landing pages, in our email and digital advertising campaigns, in print pieces. We’ve got a plethora of content to manage and minimal time to get it all done. As content marketers, we live and work at an extremely fast pace just to keep up.

I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for ways to quickly and accurately create, manage and measure. Especially since I’m constantly working from my shiny new iPhone 6 plus. Here are a few of the mobile apps I use on a regular basis.

Evernote: The perfect note-taking, list-making tool

As a writer, this app just speaks directly to my soul. Evernote is a great way to keep notes, make to-do lists and jot down random ideas on your mobile device while traveling or on the go. It’s easy to use and let’s you sort your notes however you see fit. Cue the hallelujah choir. They even have a Work Chat feature where you can share and discuss your files with coworkers and friends.

Dropbox: Your own personal storage unit

This may seem obvious, but the Dropbox app is totally worth recognizing here. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how intuitive the user experience is on mobile. It’s the perfect way to quickly share and save files on your mobile device when working on the go or during those late-night email catch up sessions from your couch / bed.

Google Trends: A quick fix for trend listeners

Check out the Google Trends app for a quick glimpse into trending topics on Google Search, YouTube and Twitter. Despite all of my prayers and wishes, it doesn’t really work for keyword research and trend analysis like the desktop version. But it can be really valuable for content marketers looking to jump on social trends and/or create quick blogs on trending topics.

GoToMeeting: Meetings in the palm of your hand

Ever had that awkward online meeting moment where the line drops out and all you hear is static? Come on, we’ve all been there. I can’t sit here and say that GoToMeeting is without its faults (it’s not). But I have to give the folks at Citrix credit – their GoToMeeting andGoToWebinar apps make it super easy to join your scheduled meetings and webinars from your mobile device.

HubSpot: Inbound marketing, the pocket edition

If you’re a HubSpot user like us, you’ll be amazed by the user-friendliness of the HubSpot app. It’s a great tool for email campaign management, blog scheduling and posting, social media monitoring, importing contacts and pretty much all of the content optimization stuff you can do with HubSpot on a computer. Download it. Use it. Love it.

Voice Memos: Your new best friend

Cell phones double as recorders, so you have a recording device handy whenever you need it. Who knew? If you’re like me, you might’ve never thought about it before now. Most of us get Voice Memos pre-loaded on our devices. This is a great tool for conducting interviews, recording meetings and making memos to come back to later.

What are some of your favorite mobile apps to use on the go? Leave suggestions for dos and don’ts in the comments below. We would love to hear from you.
