By now you probably know that using a landing page opposed to a directing digital advertising, social media or email traffic to your website, is key to driving leads. But its more than just adding a form to a page – here are my 6 Steps to Building a Killer Landing Page.
Step 1: Define your goals.
What is the goal of your landing page? This should be the first question you ask yourself before starting your landing page process. Are you trying to attract new prospects to request information about a new online degree you’re offering? Are you trying to get your current students to register for an upcoming event? By defining your goal ahead of time, you are able to create all copy, imagery and design elements with this goal in mind.
Step 2: Write persuasive copy to entice users.
When writing content for a landing page, you should be short, concise and to the point. According to Hubspot, 55% of visitors spend less than 15 seconds on a page before leaving. With that said, it’s very important to sell and promote degree program or event with compelling but minimal copy.
Step 3: Include compelling creative.
With the higher education industry in mind, its important that a user can picture themselves at your school or earning on online degree with the imagery showcased on your landing page.
Step 4: Use friendly forms with a clear, enticing CTA
Having a great form is essential for capturing lead information. Your landing page and form should tell the user what you want them to do next. Whether it’s submitting their information to download an informational PDF or to just simply learn more about what you’re offering, your copy should promote the outcome as a way to entice users.
Step 5: Create a top-notch design.
A great wireframe design is also crucial for any landing page. You should work with your web developer to create a design that incorporates all the previous steps mentioned in this blog and also the key elements below.
Also, with the ever-increasing mobile and tablet traffic, you should create a responsive design that is fully functioning and easy to read on any device.
Step 6: Direct users to a thank you page.
Getting a user to fill your form is not where the landing page process ends. You want to direct a user to a thank page for multiple reasons.
By using these 6 steps, you are well on your way to having a high-converting landing page! Any questions? Please don’t hesitate to reach out:hayley@convergeconsulting.org.
